Fancy some dessert?


Quesillo

This delightful dessert is perfect for weekend’s barbecues and meals; The Quesillo is a kind of a flan made with condensed milk, eggs and caramel. If you go to Venezuela you can eat a really good Quesillo at Q’ arepas and at El Aranjuez.






Ingredients:

For the caramel:

¼ cup of sugar

1 tablespoon of water


For the Flan:

4 eggs

1 can of condense milk (The same quantity of normal milk)

1 teaspoon of vanilla essence

A big pot with cover (As shown in the picture)


Preparation:

For the caramel:

  1. Place the sugar and the water in a small saucepan to boil.
  2. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Boil syrup in high heat without stirring until caramel is gold or light brown. Remove carefully from stove.
  4. While is still hot pour it to the pot were you will cook the quesillo.


For the flan:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 F.
  2. Combine the two types of milk in a blender.
  3. With the blender at a medium speed add the eggs one by one.
  4. Pour the mixture into the pot with the caramel and pour it in a bigger pot with water halfway up.
  5. Place in the oven rack and cover bake the flan for about 60 minutes
  6. Let it cool and then transfer to the serving plate.

If you want to try something different you can add to the mixture some sliced coconut.
